Examples

This section includes examples to help you calculate the number of licences required for installations of Pegasus products using Microsoft SQL Server for the data store.

Example 1 - Opera 3 SQL SE

In this example there are 15 people using Opera 3 SQL SE.

Example 2 - Opera 3 SQL with Scheduler and Stocktake

SQL Server Express may be used for Scheduler and Stocktake (SQL Express does not need licensing). These examples assume that SQL Server Express is not used.

In this example there are 5 people using Opera 3 SQL. The Scheduler client is used in 2 of the Opera Client PCs. Stocktake - a single-user application - is used in another of the Opera Client PCs.

As Scheduler and Stocktake are used in Opera 3 SQL they use the same licences.

Example 3 - Opera 3 (non-SQL) with Scheduler and Stocktake

In this example there are 5 people using Opera 3 using a Visual Foxpro database. The Scheduler client is used in 2 of the Opera Client PCs. Stocktake is used in another of the Opera Client PCs. One of the people using Scheduler also uses Stocktake.

Non-SQL versions of Opera do not require CALs.

Example 5 - Opera 3 SQL with Pegasus Web Xchange

In this example there are 5 people using Opera 3 SQL. They also use both Payroll Self Service and Timesheets, along with 15 other people.

The five Opera 3 SQL users are already covered by the CALs used for Pegasus Web Xchange. Separate CALs are not required for Payroll Self Service and Timesheets provided they are for the same people.

Admin users

Additional CALs will be required if Pegasus Web Xchange administrators are not covered by an existing CAL. But if these Pegasus Web Xchange users are also Opera Users or users of the Pegasus Web Xchange website, they will already be covered.
