Assembly Cost Update

Use the Assembly Cost Update command to recalculate the assembly cost prices automatically, based on the components from which they are made and according to the selection criteria you specify. The assembly records are updated accordingly and the audit trail printed if requested.

Box

Description

Sequence

An option that determines the sequence which can be either 'Component' or 'Assembly' and therefore the records you specify under Range as described below.

Range

The range of either assemblies or components (depending on your selection in Sequence). In the From and To boxes, enter the start and end references or leave blank to signify the first and last records respectively. For assembly sequence, only a top level assembly can be entered (that is not a subassembly). For components sequence, only bottom level components (that is not subassemblies) can be entered. All the assemblies that use the components fall in the selection range entered, will have their prices recalculated. If the component is included in a subassembly then the cost of the subassembly and the top assembly will be recalculated.

Audit Trail

An option that determines whether you want to print an audit trail detailing the changes made. This lists the assembly code, description, old and new material, labour and stock costs, together with a variance between new and old stock price and the variance percentage. If no audit trail is required, clear this option.

Add labour cost to stock cost

An option that determines whether you want labour prices to be incorporated in the assembly cost. By default, labour prices are included. If this is not required, clear the option.

Update assemblies using Average Costing

An option that determines whether you want assemblies that use the average costing method to be incorporated in the assembly cost. By default, average cost assemblies are included. If you want to exclude them, clear this option.
