Company default folders

The data folder location is used for:

• Data backups

• Report definitions

• The repository

  The Repository folder is used for files that are stored securely on the server.

  These files are stored in this location:

  • Customer invoices and credit notes PDFs that are automatically created in a folder for the accounting period. These are used for drilldown purposes in the accounting ledger.

  • Other reports saved as PDFs or XLS when the Securely on server option on the Publisher form is used, for example day book reports or sales orders.

  Each system and company will have its own sub folder below the Repository folder.

  To keep this folder secure, administrators must not grant any permissions to this location. Reports saved here should only be accessed from the Opera 3 SQL SE client software either using the Server Reports command or when using the drilldown facilities in the accounting ledgers.

• The 'common folder' (see below).

This must be entered in Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) format. Administrators must create a network share and grant the necessary permissions to the users who will need access to this location in Windows Explorer,  for example, to give access for banking software.

The common folder location is used for:

• Company BACS files (in the '\BACS' folder)

• Export files

• VAT Return & EC VAT related files (in the '\Tax' folder)

• Migrations from Opera 3 (SQL Server database) or Opera 3 (Visual Foxpro database).

Folders for each system and company are created here. For example, for company A in the main system the '\Common\Sys_0\Co_A' folder is used.
