Task Scheduler Editor

This is the main form in the Task Schedule Editor. You create new tasks, edit tasks and delete tasks from this form. The form displays the tasks that have been defined including the name, description, type of task and the last time the tasks were run. The form also displays different icons adjacent to each task's name to indicate its status.

You can use the Mouse-Click menu to:

Description

Name

A unique reference to identify the task, which cannot include spaces or special characters (like '!' or '?').

An icon is displayed next to the name to indicate the states for the task:

The task has been suspended.

The task has been run successfully but there were some warnings.

The task has been run but did not complete.

The task is currently running.

The task has been created in Opera 3 but has not yet been finalised by an administrator. Currently this only applies to a task that has been created in the Repeat Invoice command in the Sales Order Processing and Invoicing applications in Opera 3. The person who is responsible for setting up the repeat invoices posting has asked their administrator to schedule the date and time when the task will be run in Task Scheduler. After the administrator has scheduled the task this icon is removed.

Tip: To see the details of the task after it has run use the View Last Run Details or the View History commands on the mouse-click command menu. If your primary mouse button is the left button, click the right button to display the command menu. If your primary mouse button is the right button, click the left button to display the menu.

Description

The task's description or 'friendly name'.

Type

The type of process for the task which is one of the following:

  • Update Data Structures (UDS)

  • Backup Databases

  • Tidy System

  • Nominal Ledger Period End

  • Nominal Ledger Rebuild Periods

  • Nominal Ledger Rebuild History

  • Sales Ledger Period End

  • Purchase Ledger Period End

  • Repeat Invoices. This task is set up differently to the others in Pegasus Scheduler. It is created in the Repeat Invoices command in either the Sales Order Processing or the Invoicing applications in Opera 3 and then scheduled in the Task Scheduler.   • Web Xchange - Reorganise Files

  • Chain (used to link different tasks together so that they are processed in sequence).

Last Run

The date and time the task was last run. This is updated even if the task could not be completed.
