Issuing and Returning Traceable Stock

Traceable stock can only be issued when it has been assigned and released. The process of assignment is the one in which you give the items their serial or batch numbers, and this is done either at the time of booking in the stock receipts, or subsequently, using one of the assignment functions described earlier in this guide.

Regardless of the setting of the Receive via GRN Only option, you cannot issue traceable stock from a quarantine warehouse. See also the topic Setting Options for Stock Module.

There is an option on the Set Options forms for the SOP and Invoicing applications called Select Traceable Numbers on Quantity. If this is selected, the picking process for traceable items takes place when you enter the quantity required in the document detail lines of the invoice or credit note. Regardless of which process you use, the basic procedure for picking traceable stock is similar. This basic procedure is described below; first for batch numbered items, then for serial numbered items.
